Pedregoso which means Stony Soil in Spanish, is the name that the winery chose for this wine range. Nowadays Tabalí’s main focus is on the soil and in this wine range of the brand, the grapes come from all vineyards with soils with different types of stones: from limestone, to alluvial, colluvial and granite.
In the specific case of the Carmenere, the soil shows decomposed granite which allows a very good penetration and lets the roots explore the profile very well. The vineyard is located in Cachapoal, one of the best regions for growing this grape. Is it an old vineyard planted in 1950, with low yields, an altitude of 985 feet and a Mediterranean climate. It was planted on a north facing slope. This orientation receives more hours of sun that allow the optimal ripeness of the grapes.
